The Anambra State Police Command at the weekend, paraded
a 22-year-old man, Chigozie Ugwu, for stealing 52 women’s underwear.
Ugwu confesses that he indulges in the act to satisfy his
sexual urge, claiming that he was not aware that his action was an offence
until security operatives arrested him.
According to him, he feels the urge to have sexual
intercourse any time he picked a woman’s undies.
Ugwu who was among the 15 suspected cult members and
armed robbers paraded at the state command’s headquarters, told The Punch he
had no girlfriend and pleaded that the police should release him.
Ugwu said, “I didn’t know that it was an offence to take
women’s pants. I don’t have any girlfriend. So, each time I am with any woman’s
underwear, I feel like I am making love, that’s why I go about picking and
keeping women’s pants.
“I didn’t know it was an offence until the police
arrested me. Please, tell them to release me. I didn’t intend to steal those
things. I think it’s a spiritual problem,” he added.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ali
Okechukwu, parading the suspects, said all hands were on deck to curb crime in
the state.
