The Federal Government has on Monday axe heads of the six information-related parastatals under the Ministry of Information and Culture.

This was made known in statement issued by Segun Adeyemi, Special Adviser to Hon Minister of Information and Culture.

According to the statement , ”The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the disengagement during a meeting he held with the Chief Executives of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Voice of Nigeria (VON), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Monday .

”The affected Chief Executives are the Directors-General of NTA, Mr. Sola Omole, FRCN (Mr. Ladan Salihu), VON (Mr Sam Worlu), NOA (Mr. Mike Omeri), NBC (Mr. Emeka Mba) and the Managing Director of NAN (Mr. Ima Niboro).”

”The Minister directed the disengaged Chief Executives to hand over to the most senior officials in their various establishments.

”He thanked them for their service to the nation and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours.

JFC VISITS THE NATION NEWSPAPER

Journalists have been charged to engage on more research  into gender reporting.

Mr. Soji Omotunde, General Manager {Training & Development} made this call when members of Journalists For Christ {JFC} paid a courtesy visit to him at The Nation Newspaper on Thursday.

Mr. Gbenga Osinaike, Project Coordinator, JFC disclosed that the purpose of the visit is to present some copies of the book, Mainstream Gender Reporting on Affirmative Action of Women And Girls Rights Issues which was  published  by JFC.

Osinaike reiterated further that the purpose of the book is to understand how journalists covers issues relating to women and girls in the society citing six Newspapers in the country and to change the way and manner news are being reported especially as they have to do with female folks.

In her own view, Jacqueline Ogoh submitted that media sensitization and reportage of women  and girl child is not balanced. She claimed that more attention is being given to the rich women in the society while the poor and less privileged are being sidelined.

Ogoh is of the opinion that intensive investigation need to be done especially on cases of rape, assault and crime among others especially as they relate to female gender.

Mrs. Patience Saduwa, revealed that cultural and environmental factors contributes to ineffectiveness of female reportage. This pointed out that most women are not ready to open up due to some cultural and environmental factors.

However, Ogoh encouraged that there is a need to educate and orientate the female gender on the importance of their voice in fighting gender imbalance in the country.

Omotunde concluded that women are created out of men and they should not see themselves as equal or superior to the men.

ORANGUTANS ATTEND SCHOOL

  A group of Orangutans are attending forest school in Indonesia, Sky News report.

The purpose is to teach them skills  like foraging and nest-making in the hope they can be reintroduced to the wild.

The animals live at IAR's sanctuary in Ketapang, in Kaliman province in eastern Indonesia's Borneo island, and rehabilitation could take seven to eight years.

According to Karmele Llano Sanchez, IAR’s project Director in Indonesia, "When the orangutans arrive here we try to give them an environment that is as natural as possible, that is why we created the forest schools.

 

"And these forest schools are the forest areas where the orangutans come every day from the morning until the evening, and they're given the chance to stay overnight in the forest when they start learning how to make a nest.

"What we want is to try to replicate what an orangutan will do in the wild, so this is what they will learn during the process of rehabilitation," he said.

Sky News confirmed that there are currently 102 orangutans living in the sanctuary, but not all primates attend the school because some have suffered long-term injuries that mean they can never return to the wild.

The population of the endangered species, mainly found in southeast Asia, has decreased tremendously due to illegal poaching and habitat loss.

Experts say Indonesia, home to the world's third-largest tropical forest acreage, holds the key to the problem and needs to put into practice a long-term plan to enforce laws, tackle fires and spend more on prevention.

Prostitute ‘surgically removed from client after he died during sex’

Metro has revealed a video that apparently shows a prostitute stuck to an elderly client who died on her.

   Hidden under a blanket, the footage is purported to show the prostitute on top of the man while still attached at the genitals.

According to Metro, the video was first posted on Miaopai – China’s version of YouTube – before it was put onto Liveleak.

The exact circumstances of what happened and how the pair came to be stuck together in such a way are unclear.

They were taken to hospital where it is believed they were separated before his body was taken to the morgue.

People have previously become stuck together during intercourse through something known as penis captivus.

This is where the vagina clamps down on the penis – a rare occurrence that normally rights itself once things have calmed down a bit.

3.      Manchester United: $3.10 billion .  Manchester United secured lucarative champions league berth after finishing fourth 2014-15 premier league season and they have already forked out £80 million on buying 4 new players and a got rid of some high wage contracts of Van Persie, Falcao and Nani. Of the field they secured couple of massive deals in biggest shirt sponsorship (Chevrolet) & kit suppliers deal (Adidas) in the history of the club. Which means they will continue to buy top class players in coming years.

4.    FC Bayern Munich: $2.34 billion.   When Pep Guardiola took charge of FC Bayern Munich two years ago they had just won the treble of domestic league, cup and the champions League and Bayern had the highest wage bill in German league. The wage bill for treble winning side in 2013 was around €150 million (euros) but with the arrival of Pep Guardiola and some very high profile signings in two years he has been in charge at the club Bayern Munich’s most recent wage bill has increased to €180 million which got an increase of €30 million in just over an year.

5.      Manchester City: $1.37 billion.  Manchester City spend big in 2015 summer transfer window and brought in the likes of Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, Nicolas Otamendi, Fabien Delph and Patrick Robers in high profile transfers. Their wagebill was second highest behind Manchester United but with the summer spending spree combined with new contracts offered to the likes of Aguero, David Silva, Kompany and Hart in the last 6 months, we can safely assume their wage bill will be most expensive not only in premier league but in European football.

 

6.      Chelsea FC: $1.36 billion. Chelsea reportedly got a massive increase (30%) in their yearly revenue after winning 2014-15 Premier League title but their wage bill is also increase by £25 million making them team which highest wage bill in premier league. Chelsea went on to added Juan Cuadrado in 2015 January transfer window While brought in Rademal Falcao on a season long loan at reportedly £140,000 a week salary and added Pedro, Baba Rehman, Asmir Begovic for around £44 million in Summer 2015. They also added Alexander pato on a 6 month loan deal costing £30,000 a week.

7.      Arsenal FC: $1.30 billion. Arsenal’s wage bill increased from  £166 million in 2014 to £180 million as they brought in number of high profile players in summer transfer window of 2014. Heading into the 2015-16 season they have not made big singings apart from Petre Cech who joined the club for £12 million and their wage bill will remain more-a-less same for next season, which is still far better than Manchester United current wage bill is the highest in league with £214 million while City’s current wage bill is around £206 million.

8.      Liverpool FC: $982 million. Liverpool had a brilliant 2013-14 season where they finished just 1 point behind Manchester City in second place, but with the departure of Luis Suarez in the summer lead to a whole lot of changes in the squad with many new players coming in which lead to terrible season where they finished outside for top 4 and missed out on 2015-16 champions league.

9.      Juventus: $837 million. Juventus has the highest wage bill in Italian Serie 2015-16 season with a massive €124 million spent on players wages.
